Hi there! I’m Mila.
Recipe developer and dedicated taste tester, photographer/videographer and lastly, creator behind FavFlave.
I make wholesome, easy-to-follow, and budget-friendly recipes.
Take some time to browse through my recipes I’ve created over the years, and let me know when you try one! I’d recommend this Peanut Butter Banana Protein Muffins Recipe as a good starting point, they are SO good. Thanks for stopping by!
About FavFlave
Here you’ll find all sorts of recipes for everyday living and entertaining with an emphasis on seasonality. I share all types of recipes including dairy-free, high protein, gluten-free, vegan and more. They have been curated and inspired from childhood favourites, family & friends, travel, restaurants & weird cravings.
I guarantee that you will love cooking (and eating) even more when you use the right tools and invest in kitchen items that make cooking and baking easy and beautiful to look at. I have tried and learnt the hard way so that you don’t have to and love sharing my tips and tricks with you. Tips and tricks that are sprinkled throughout my site and social media channels.
MY GOAL IS TO TEACH YOU SOMETHING NEW & HELP YOU DISCOVER YOUR NEW FAV GO-TO RECIPES!
The Backstory
My earliest memories are being in the kitchen with my mom: making soups, numerous salads, baking brownies, rolling cabbage rolls, and trying new recipes that she found from her favourite sources – Barefoot Contessa, Bon Appetit & Jamie Oliver. Years later and my happy place is still in the kitchen.
I absolutely love food (I think about it often). I have struggled with disorder eating before, now I strongly believe in balance and food freedom which is why you’ll find recipes ranging from low-carb to decadent desserts and everything in between. The secret I have learnt is to have just a taste of the super tasty but calorically dense foods to satisfy your cravings when you have them, and the other times aim to eat a healthy balance of carbs, protein and fats in each meal. Whether you’re looking for something indulgent to bake for your best friend’s birthday, a healthier version of your favourite muffin, or even a family-friendly healthier comfort food to cook up, I’ve got you covered. I’m so happy you’re here!
I had such a hard time finding the right recipes when I moved out and was cooking my own meals. I’ve always loved to cook (and eat), but my knowledge in flavour combinations was rather… limited. I knew that I could make myself some tasty food if I just had the right recipe, so off to the internet I went. There was only one problem, most of the recipes I tried were a huge flop, sometimes even inedible. I was able to find a few recipes that I liked, but being the type-A-control freak that I (sometimes) am, I quickly abandoned all online help and decided to create my own recipes instead. So, I started my own binder that I filled with all my successful and new fav recipes. I had typed out and printed these recipes using my own recipe template so that the binder would have a cohesive look (classic example of where my perfectionism kicks in). I then grew the courage to start bringing my creations around for friends and family and to my surprise they would ask me for the recipes! That’s when I decided I wanted to share them on my very own website!
All the recipes you will find here are developed by me (unless otherwise noted). I love experimenting in the kitchen and creating new recipes. I develop my recipes through good old fashioned trial and error. But no matter how much testing it takes me, I make sure every recipe that shows up here is of the highest quality. I try to eat a balanced diet of healthy foods, but I do also love sweet and or salty treats. You’ll find that most of my recipes are healthy, have limited ingredients and are super easy to make but still taste great! That said, I do have treats on the site that aren’t very healthy, but I have found that eating is all about balance. I hope you find a few recipes on here that you can enjoy.

I got my college certificate in New Media Design & Web Development with distinction from BCIT, this is where my passion for graphic design and web development began and how I managed to whip up my own site! I consider myself very lucky to be here as I have found a way to combine my love for cooking, food, photography, graphic design and web development; combining all my passions and what inspires me.
When I’m NOT in the Kitchen
You’ll most likely find me at the gym, spending time with friends & family, downhill mountain biking, dirt biking, camping, skiing or playing Call of Duty. I live in Grand Forks with my boyfriend, Kyle, and our two kitties, Kobi and Murphy. Even though I grew up on the east coast, I’m a west coast girl at heart. I’m totally in love with the mountains and surrounding lakes, and feel so grateful to be able to call this beautiful place home.
That pretty much sums up all that I have to say about me, so if you made it this far, thanks for sticking around! And thank you for supporting this dream of mine that has become FavFlave. It feels so surreal to be able to do something that I love every single day, and I don’t take it for granted. Thank you.
With love, Mila
