I’m not gonna lie, this is the best guacamole recipe ever! With just 5 simple ingredients you’ll have fresh, zesty and perfectly balanced guacamole in no time! I was heavily inspired by the flavours of several different fresh guacamole and salsa’s from my visits to all inclusive resorts in Mexico. They each had their own spins which I have mashed into the best version ever.
Holy Moly Guacamole Recipe Ingredients
Here’s what you’ll need to make this guac recipe:
- Avocado – make sure you have ripe, but not too ripe of avocados. You want to be able to softly squeeze the avocado and have it give slightly.
- Tomato – these will add a nice zing and texture to your guac. If you find they add too much water to your guac, make sure to remove the juicy bits before chopping.
- Lime – for the zest and acidity the guac needs!
- Cilantro – I don’t know about you but cilantro is one of my fav herbs to use in dishes to give them a fresh flavour and is essential to a good guacamole, that’s why I use a hefty amount in mine!
- Salt – always salt to taste, don’t skip it!
- Jalapeño – don’t forget the heat! If you can tolerate it that is. I remember reading somewhere that it’s frowned upon to add ground pepper to your guac so ever since then I’ve been adding just a touch of chopped jalapeño’s without the seeds to add a nice spice.

What to Serve with Guacamole
Obviously, tortilla chips are a must. But guac is a staple for me on taco or nacho nights! Dollop it onto nachos and tacos, add some into your burritos before wrapping those babies up, or make a burrito bowl topped with guac. And of course, don’t skip the margaritas!
What I find most interesting is how everyone has their own guac preferences, but the key to this recipe is that it has a nice texture with the chunky tomato pieces and not just the mushy avocado.
If you like spice, toss in jalapeño peppers in your guac.
